(28,493 posts)Trump is delusional and believes everything he says, every lie he tells. He does not think the end is near. He will not resign, least of all with a face-saving cover story.
As for armed insurrection, people have been predicting that since at least the 1960's. Remember that Manson sent his minions out to murder people because he was delusional enough to think that a couple of murders would somehow ignite a race war.
And for decades people have been convinced that the big bad government is going to take all their guns away. Personally, I wish that would happen, but it hasn't. And it won't.
Back to Trump. If Mueller actually gets at all close to indicting him, he'll simply dig in, state over and over again that Mueller is incompetent and that the FBI is totally demoralized, etc etc etc. There's a distant possibility that responsible Republican leadership (now there's an oxymoron if ever there was one) might persuade him to resign ahead of actual impeachment, and will cut some kind of a deal so that he doesn't go to prison, which would be too bad.
But more likely will be that Mueller will simply turn over his findings to Congress in the hope that they will do something constructive, but they won't. At least not so long as the Republicans run things. It will be Fitzmas all over again. Only worse, because every single Republican and every single Trump supporter will be energized because as far as they'll be concerned, Trump will have been totally exonerated.
Meanwhile our environment is degrading, inequality is sky-rocketing, young people have little hope for the future. Welcome to America the Third World country.
