5. My read of the photo is

that it is taken by a low resolution computer cam, and that he is sitting at the computer wearing headphones, with a large cardboard cut out or other blown up photograph of a girl behind him. (As opposed to a photoshop montage)

Wearing headphones on the computer is not unusual, particularly for apartment dwellers.
