In reply to the discussion: Here's what happened when I called Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's office re: Al Franken [View all]calimary
(90,400 posts)We had two Russia-related "asks", plus three more - about the tax fraud plan, the CHIP program, and DACA. But we got a lot done on all of those and still had time to spare, so we brought up other stuff, too. The top five "asks" are all determined by a vote of the Indivisible group during every monthly meeting. The five issues that get the most votes are the winners. And they do change from month to month. The meetings with our reps tend to take an hour, and it usually is a meeting with a representative of our reps - the district manager, a deputy, or other staffer.
Since we had time left over after taking care of the required business, net neutrality, Roy Moore and Al Franken, and the problem with Democratic messaging (as in - shabby, and bad, and almost nonexistent) came up, also, plus concerns voiced about the fires burning throughout SoCal. Surprisingly enough, climate change didn't come up this time, though, either as an "ask" or as an "as long as we're here..."
