I used to work for an exhibitor and they are notoriously cheap to spend money on capital improvements.
That's why digital cinema has been delayed studios want NATO to install the systems and NATO wants the studios to pay for the upgrades.
But at the end of the day the real reason they wont alarm the doors is noise and disruption of the film.
One prankster pops the door, the alarm and lights go off and you have to refund an entire audiences money.
Alarms ain't gonna happen.
