... Of America’s 800,000 Dreamers, the 30,000 Dreamers who call New York City home contribute $1.9 billion to our city’s GDP. But stronger participation in the economy is just one of the many ways that Dreamers help make our city the greatest in the world. Dreamers are our family and our friends, community members and colleagues, who give back to their communities through public service, advocacy, contributing to the arts and culture, and raising the next generation of New Yorkers.

... the Trump administration .. placed .. this progress on the chopping block. In September, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the federal government would end DACA, threatening the lives and livelihoods of Dreamers across the country. Most DACA recipients and DACA-eligible New Yorkers have lived in NYC for 13 years and came to the U.S. when they were about 9 years old. They went to school here and pay mortgages in our city, and many don’t even speak the language of the country of their parents. Dreamers are Americans. The Trump administration’s decision to end DACA is just another part of the president’s anti-immigrant agenda, which includes his Muslim ban, his deportation force and his border wall ...
