22. Pornography is about sex, enjoyment of sexual feelings.

It's not that your hostility to it doesn't matter, only that the wishes of those who feel like you are not the only ones to be considered. But they are nevertheless to some degree, which is why in most states pornographic materials for sale must be hidden from the view of passersby.

You know, your desire to impose your feelings on the rest of society are not that different from those who want laws regulating female dress, and for much the same reasons. In conservative Muslim countries, it's believed that viewing women's bodies causes sinful thoughts, and thus harm to women and to society as a whole.

It's just a matter of degree of remedy.

Notably, they, very much like you, believe strongly that covering women's bodies is imperative to protect women. Neither they, nor you, believe that your personal ability to choose for yourself whether you will view or pose for pornography protects you, because others are still viewing.

They, like you, believe that the liberal principle of the right to pursuit of happiness is very wrong as applied to how women can display themselves, and can be hired and displayed for commercial purposes.

You're very right in recognizing that your views are not liberal. I'm not sure you realize just how much, though. Viewing women's bodies is only one of many, many thousands of behaviors we find personally enjoyable that are protected by our constitution, like your coming to chat on forums like this.

Many people feel women should not speak in public, any more than they should display their bodies. And for the same reasons, for the good of society and of women themselves.
