I mean, is our only defense against gun-toting madmen to never ever EVER be without a gun, never, every able-bodied man and woman, armed and packing, at work, play, or leisure? So every citizen can engage a possible threat whenever, however they think is best, provided they aren't the threat themselves?

And people actually feel as if that'd make us, as a society, feel MORE safe and LESS paranoid?

To be perfectly frank, that sounds like Somalia or worse. That's just not an America I can imagine anyone wanting to live in.
