From men on their bikes and other assholes.
This isn’t the kind of protest I support (as noise affects everyone around). Not just target. You can feel it earbuds or not.
I really hate the assholes who are doing this on my street and file complaints with the police against them. Here in my city in the global south, the police are pretty decent and not fascistic, whereas these bullying thugs on my street are assholes.
There are better ways to protest. This just adds to the accelerating chaos and doesn’t accomplish anything.
I am sympathetic to these guys. But I have mixed feelings about these strategies.
I am not very Karen. So I don’t like telling people what to do, especially if it is genuinely some form of activism however warped. Which I am not sure it is ..at least not the stuff I see here. This I am guessing is some sort of sleazy and harassing tech thing.
But it’s definitely a more young lefty male thing I think, these ear splitting and other rambunctious strategies. How about a strategy that doesn’t burst my ear drums so I can actually help? And by extension your (largely female, non Karen) allies? An odd tension there between more chaotic and more orderly people with the same goals and split along gender lines even if not inimically.
The noise pollution in my neck of the woods has goaded me into drafting a long post for activist HQ to start to legally pushback against the foul Panopticon the creeps are building. But that’s not a defense of noise pollution as a strategy dammit!
That’s just a terrible idea…Like a lefty group or two will do this and then the right wing creeps will use it as an excuse to do the same things times a 100. It’s just a given that some strategies work better for the right. This is one of them imo. Kayfabe, chaos, confusion, violence, grift, deception, lies, purity tests, disorder of the worst types, self serving shit in general..these are strategies that the right is better at because of a basic asymmetry. Nazi order is the only kind of order they support and it works with chaos and confusion. Anything but egalitarian, democratic order and innocuous disorder.
Interesting in a way..where this could be headed in a positive sense.
