First let me say Happy Valentine's Day, and thank you for the hearts! This year's Hearts Fund Drive ends on Sunday night, and we very much appreciate your support.

It seems that in these dark times, independent sites like DU, which sit outside the big-corporation social media/mainstream media bubble, are more important than ever. We may not have the influence and reach of big social media, but there's no other community like DU out there. We do our best to keep people informed and connected WITHOUT vacuuming up every piece of your personal information we can get our hands on, and we don't screw around with AI or algorithms designed to addict you -- this is a community run by real human beings, for real human beings.

As you know, DU is funded solely by web advertising and member contributions, and we rely on your support to keep running. Many of you have already purchased or renewed Star Memberships this week, and we greatly appreciate it.
