In addition, there are some differences between the various translations of the Bible.

Yet, differences aside - I have never heard of the KKK, which was anti Catholic - ever rounding up Catholic Bibles and destroying them.

The destruction of the works of art and the library itself attacks culture and history itself. The Taliban destroyed some giant Buddhas in Afghanistan in early 2001.

(Here's an article that is fascinating given that it was pre 911 and that among other things it spoke of the sanctions then in place and their affect.
