In reply to the discussion: RAHM EMANUEL TOPS CHUY GARCIA FOR CHICAGO MAYOR [View all]rpannier
(24,837 posts)66. I doubt he'll run for Governor
Only because there's rumblings that Cheri Bustos is looking like she'll run and Madigan may run as well
Bustos is a congressional rep from outside Chicago (IL-17). She'll poll better on the western side. Her district has some traditionally Democratic strongholds. But the Democrats didn't do so well in those places (Moline, East Moline, Rock Island...) in 2014, but she did
And the only way Lisa Madigan couldn't win if she ran was if Michael Madigan made an ass out of himself and people couldn't get past it
If Lisa ran, Rahm definitely wouldn't. Michael is the power in the state, both because he is speaker and chairman of the party

Riiiight. Incumbency, name recognition, Dem Party support and millions of dollars are irrelevant.

My sentiments exactly. Not surprising, but still sucks. (It would've been so nice to be surprised.)

Correct...the rending of garments over a Rahm win strikes me as bizarre
