In reply to the discussion: Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders: 'I am running for president' [View all]appalachiablue
(43,786 posts)39. +1 Hi Virginia, from Virginia
Bernie's truth messages about the declining middle class & rise of Oligarch power will be received by many concerned & struggling Americans, it already has. Yet from what I see of the deep South that may be different. Not only due to the conservatism there but also the corporate media. How much M$M covers him I want to see. In the last few months it has been very good, although many younger people & DU members say they rarely or never watch Television.
To get a real sense of Bernie people should watch/listen to him take calls from Americans all over the country on THOM HARTMANN'S PROGRAM, M-F, 12-3 PM, ET. The segment, "BRUNCH WITH BERNIE" is held on FRIDAYS. Bernie usually speaks to call ins for about an hour, normally 12-1. If his schedule changes, he does the appearance on another weekday airing of Thom's program.
HARTMANN'S daily program can be seen/heard on FSTV (FREE SPEECH TV Channel) carried on Dish and Direct, or LIVE online at freespeech.org, & also on some cable & radio stations in the US.
During the BRUNCH TIME segment, you really get to know Bernie (who has a great sense of humor, btw) & see how he does his very best to assist callers with issues to discuss & concerns from Veterans having difficulty with the medical system, people who can't afford their prescription medicine, those with access to voting issues & more.
Occasionally Bernie refers them to contact his Senate office for more information. That is real dedication.
Sanders has been doing the session for many years; what other politician would devote his time to listening & helping average Americans from every part of the country? His commitment to the welfare of the people & the country is genuine, authentic & exceptional.
~We need Bernie in this presidential campaign to speak out on what is actually happening in this country.~

Absolutely! Unless they're watching carefully, few people know the dangers of what is going on now.

The Des Moines Register used to be an excellent newspaper. Hopefully it still is.
