not to mention the traumatizing time floating alone, lashed to the inner tube by his mother before she drowned before his eyes, with no land in sight, then living among strangers for ages while his father was kept away from him, as well as all those he had known from infancy, all his cousins, aunts, uncles, 4 grandparents, half-brother, stepmother, etc.

Quite the price to pay for the 15 minutes of fame. I'll just bet he would give it all back in the blink of an eye to have it all undone, and all the people returned to life.
