Police: Recent Yale Graduate Stabs Student, Then Jumps To Death

NEW HAVEN — A man who graduated from Yale University last week stabbed a student at an off-campus apartment building Tuesday morning, then jumped out of a ninth-floor window to his death, police said..

Tyler Carlisle, a philosophy major who worked on Republican campaigns, died when he fell six stories onto a third-floor ledge after stabbing Alexander Michaud, 21, police said.

Michaud was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition, police said. Police said the two men were acquaintances but did not elaborate.

Both Carlisle and Michaud, who is due to graduate in 2017, were from Manchester, N.H., according to their Facebook pages. Both men were active in The Party of the Right, a conservative group that bills itself as the "right-most" of the seven parties in the Yale Political Union debate and political organization. ... Carlisle was the manager of Republican Joseph Bentivegna's unsuccessful campaign for the 4th Congressional District last year. He also worked for Rick Santorum's GOP campaign for president in 2012.
