Alabama TV station rejected Virginia shooter Vester Flanagan over concerns of erratic behavior

The former television reporter suspected of shooting two Virginia journalists live on air today applied for a position in Huntsville but was not interviewed after concerns were raised over his past behavior, according to the station's news director.

WAFF 48 News Director Adam Henning said Vester Flanagan, known on air as Bryce Williams, applied for a job and in the course of pre-interview discussions, it was discovered that Flanagan had problems at other stations.

"I checked with people I know who worked with him at a previous station and the feedback was not indicative of the kind of employee we would want on our team so we passed," Henning said. "The feedback included things like getting in a fight at a company Christmas party and being difficult to work with.

"That was more than enough to know he wasn't going to be someone we would want working here," he added.
