At a press conference, Bernie Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver accused the DNC of trying to undermine the Sanders campaign. The campaign is threatening to take the DNC to federal court if they do not allow Sanders access to his own data.

Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said that the DNC’s vendor failed to protect the data. Weaver called the DNC’s action an, “inappropriate overreaction.” Weaver said that the vendor has been dangerously incompetent. Weaver also said that it was the Sanders campaign that alerted the DNC to the original problem. Weaver said that the behavior of the staffer was unacceptable and the staffer was fired. He said that data should not have been looked at period. Weaver hammered the DNC for shutting down the campaign’s access to their own data that has been collected by their own people. He said, “It is our information, not the DNC’s.”

Weaver said that the DNC is trying to undermine their campaign. The campaign said that they will be in federal court today if the DNC continues to hold their data hostage. He added that the DNC has taken their campaign hostage by taking away all of their grassroots data.

If what Weaver said is true, the DNC has completely overreacted. There is no reason for the DNC to access the Sanders campaign’s access to their own data. If this matter ends up in federal court, this will be another black eye for DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s leadership.
