In reply to the discussion: Bernie Sanders Accuses DNC Of Undermining Campaign And Threatens Federal Lawsuit [View all]Lancero
(3,284 posts)That said, NGPVAN has jumped around a few times on data being downloaded that anything further they say should be taken with a lot of salt.
First they say that no data was downloaded with one possible exception. The next, they say that it would be impossible for anyone to download data. Finally, they say - despite just before saying its impossible - that data may or may not have been downloaded. Given how many times they've flopped on the potential for a data download in one statement, any logical person would admit that anything further they say should be taken with a lot of salt.
The DNC is wanting to save face given that they were the ones who selected this company to oversee the datas safety - Their position is made even worse with the complaints about how closely tied they are with Hillarys campaign, so them hiring a company founded in part by one of Hillarys previous staffers, and then that company making this large of a mistake, will have them scouring for a scapegoat.
The Sanders campaign though came right out and admitted that some of their people did - as a result of NGPVANs fuckup - access some of HRC campaign data and that he was fired as a result of it. They outright admitted their part in this entire debacle, something that the DNC refuses to do.
Rather then admit to making a mistake though, they decided to scapegoat one of the two groups that played a part in this - And rather then place the blame on NGPVAN, as they were the ones who allowed for the data breach, they are trying to place the entirety of the blame on the Sanders campaign. This is perhaps the WORST thing they could do for reasons I already outlined above. The fact that NGPVAN has admitted to dropping the ball just make the DNC still maintaining their total lockout against the Sanders campaign come off even worse.
I don't know if the Clinton campaign has put out a official statement, but given the ties the 08 campaign had with one of NGPVANs founders, it'll most likely make this situation even more of a mess then it already is.
The DNC is alienating a portion of their voting base by scapegoating Sanders rather then taking NGPVAN to task for their fuckup. They need to backtrack on what they've done, otherwise they might just be GIVING this election to the Republicans on a silver, no, a golden platter.
