Lunchroom employee fired for "theft" after feeding hungry student who couldn't pay

Pocatello, ID (WKOW) -- A school lunchroom employee was fired for theft after feeding a hungry student who couldn't pay.
Dalene Bowden says she was serving lunch last week at Irving Middle School when a girl came through her line and told her she was hungry, but didn't have any money. Bowden fixed the 12-year-old a tray, but when her supervisor saw what happened, Bowden was reported and sent home. She was eventually fired for theft, according to a letter she got a week later from the Pocatello Chubbuck School District 25 offices. ........................
Dean Molder, a Pocatello resident, adds, "If a kid cannot pay for a meal or a parent cannot pay for a meal and a person is punished for feeding that kid, somebody's got it wrong. Something is not right."
Bowden says, "My heart hurts. I truly loved my job and I can't say I wouldn't do it again." She has hired an attorney.................
