Those government records belong to we the people. Both political parties and many, many special interest groups of all political persuasions including the ACLU and the Sierra Club, routinely sue the federal governments for access to government documents. Many of these document requests or lawsuits are fishing expeditions and all are designed to further the political or environmental or whatever goals of the groups doing the suing. More power to them all. God bless the FOIA. The more transparency in government the better.

Lawsuits to demand official records that belong to the people are always a good idea because it allows for more transparency and puts pressure on politicians to be more honest and less beholden to their corporate masters.
