beside a cruise ship or joining a " Holiday Tour to The Baltics ($999 includes transfers)," the odds are they learn 'what is what.'
One thing they learn, if they go to China, for example, is that the stuff served in 99.9% of Chinese restaurants in the US of A is NOT really Chinese food, which is in fact one of the great cuisines of the world.
They also learn not to order roast beef 'with au jus.'
