Iranians are Persians and loath being referred to as Arabs. They don't speak Arabic either. They speak Farsi.
Just wanted to clear that up.
On a related note, you can google pics of Kabul, Afghanistan during the 1970s. Same dress. It was a modern, cosmopolitan city.
