DC votes to put Sanders on primary ballot [View all]

The Washington, D.C., Council voted to put Bernie Sanders on the District's Democratic presidential primary ballot on Tuesday, according to NBC Washington.

The Vermont senator's name had been left off of primary ballots due to a registration error by the local Democratic Party.

Both Sanders and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton filed their registration fees on time, but the party didn't submit paperwork until the day after the deadline. A voter filed a challenge against Sanders, initially keeping him from being registered alongside Clinton.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who has endorsed Clinton, said she would sign legislation putting Sanders on the ballot.

The chairman of Clinton s campaign, John Podesta, also called for Sanders's name to be on the ballot.
