1. Ignore it. China will own that piece of the Pacific.
2. Go to war. China would be a tougher opponent than, say, Iraq.
3. Pray for rain. Yes, maybe your theory of a typhoon blowing the bases away will work.

Anyway, this activity by China can't be very good for the coral, or the life forms that depend on the reefs.

We seem to be choosing option 1. Yeah, we sail a few navy ships through the newly-claimed waters, but this doesn't seem to affect the settlement of the area.
