And why exactly is there a hyper conservative government in charge in Iran?

In many ways the suffering of these people is the responsibility of the West. In most ways. The people themselves are modern. There's loads of women driving and in universities in Iran.

In fact Iran is the home to MANY women's rights activists...

Now again, compare that to out ally Saudi Arabia. In SA women can only view a lecture by a male teacher over a TV monitor and can only ask questions via a telephone. And they can't drive. And they are seen as an inferior species to men.

And yet... Americans do little more than moan about billions in weapons or oil revenue given to the Saudi dictators. The more liberal and modern and frankly less dangerous and awful Iran though... Better bomb them if they don't obey us. Bleugh.
