(43,049 posts)I've been on two local town committees and yet another club. All of them are actually working, amazingly enough, but two of the clubs are really incredible and showing great growth and enthusiasm.
Alas, the town I'm living in now is a bit confused. We're getting the basics together, but not much more than that. At least we're not scaring away people. Well, not too many people. And we don't have much of a club here, so I spend time with the other two.
If you're in one of those moribund local organizations, the only thing I can say is stay in contact with whoever you can find-- one of our local committees was asleep way for years and then got a new chairman who made it take off. Wasn't easy in that Republican town, but it can be done and it feels great when it happens.
Don't know enough to comment on your local committee, but I've seen that sort of thing go both ways. Usually they just join the party for some personal reason, but to get on the committee is going too far.
