Er sei ohne Eltern nach Deutschland, habe seit einiger Zeit im Landkreis Würzburg gelebt, in einer Einrichtung in Ochsenfurt. Zuletzt habe er bei einer Pflegefamilie gewohnt.

Auf die Frage, ob es einen islamistischen Hintergrund geben könnte, sagte Herrmann, es habe angeblich einen „Ausruf“ gegeben. Dies müsse aber noch geprüft werden.

He had arrived without parents in Germany, and lived for a while in Wurzberg in a shelter in Ochsenfurt. Recently he lived with a foster family.

In response to the question, if there could be an Islamic connection, Hermann said, there had reportedly been an "outcry". That remained, however, to be substantiated.
