Because the corporate friendly message is far more important than ratings and confidence. And when nobody is watching anymore, it is still "mission accomplished" as long as certain stories are not being reported, why should CEOs care?

And I take no glee in the low confidence because probably half the people who say they don't trust the media believe that that it has a liberal bias.
