(18,359 posts)and responded later to your message on what parents can do to stop it. The school has an obligation to ensure the security of its charges. If they fail to do that, then as far as I am concerned, than can close it down.
I viewed my time in school (basically my entire eight years in California from 2nd-9th grade) as a prison sentence. I had at least one bully every year who terrorized me. Had one in 10th grade in Mississippi, but it got better after he transferred. I think being in ROTC in 11th and 12th grade helped with the situation.
If the kid's father gave him the knives instead of notifying the school and pulling him out of the school, then he is an idiot of epic proportions. I feel truly bad for the kid and wish the school did its job (if they ignored the prior bullying).
