A plot, no execution, no victims, no harm, just a plan. You only get one life, I hate to see decades lost in prison. Honestly, 5-10 years would likely have gotten the point across and hopefully have taught a lesson.

I think we jail too many people, for too long and we don't understand that this is a person's life.

I doubt he was even smart enough to pull it off.
