In reply to the discussion: Conway: Those Who Currently Have Insurance Won't Lose It In ACA Repeal [View all]xor
(1,204 posts)It was expensive and had a high deductible that made it useless. I also worried that if I ever had to use it then the insurance companies would be digging through my history looking for any reason to not cover something.
Now with the ACA I fully understand the concern that people have with still having high premiums for plans with high deductibles, but at least those plans would have to cover you once you met the requirements. In addition, it finally gave all those people with preexisting conditions the ability to finally afford some sort of coverage.
By no means is it perfect, but how many of the flaws were due to republicans trying to weaken it? From what I've seen it seems like almost all the major issues are a result of them. The minor stuff could have been fixed if the republicans actually cared about making a system that worked.
I'm likely preaching to the choir here, but it just frustrates me how narrow-sighted so many "regular" people conservatives fail to understand what's going on. Trying to discuss it with them is useless because they don't seem to want to actually discuss the issue, but rather spew made up nonsense and avoid the points altogether.
