Comey defends FBI's decisions during 'contentious' election

FBI Director James Comey said he stands by the bureau's decisions during "a contentious election cycle."
In a private New Years message to FBI staff, Comey praised his employees for a job well done during "a challenging year, ABC News reported.
He said criticism of the FBI's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of State does not bother him much.
I would be lying if I said the external criticism doesnt bother me at all, but the truth is, it doesnt bother me much because of the way we made the decision, he wrote.
At every turn last year, we were faced with choosing among bad options and making decisions we knew would bring a torrent of criticism.
He did not directly address the bureaus conclusion in the email probe or the decision to announce new steps in the investigation just before Election Day, instead offering advice for employees facing scrutiny...........................
