23. There are multiple stories every year

There are news stories about people defending themselves and their children during home invasions, taking on a robber in a store, hotel and convenience store clerks drawing a gun or even firing during a robbery attempt, pharmacists using guns to stop a robbery attempt, delivery drivers using guns to defend themselves. Stories about helping a cop are more likely to go national. Other stories of armed self defense don't seem as likely to pop up on the national radar screen.

Good Sam uses of a gun were going on long before we had our current gun violence epidemic. Thank ye gawds that some people have the guts and compassion to step into such a brutal and dangerous situation and the intelligence/training to know to stay out when stepping in is likely to make the situation worse. The Good Sams continue to do their good deeds at ground level, as they have done for decades, while the political debates over gun issues move through above them like weather systems.
