They are outsourcing or consolidating their skilled positions. They are working to going all 'pre-pack' in their meat department, bringing in 'pre-baked'' goods to their bakery, 'pre-made' deli items, and so on. They are cutting back more and more on the skilled workers - those who used to cut meat, slice deli meat, bake the breads and donuts on site, and so on. As they scale back on the skilled workers in those depts, the workers are offered jobs as stockers and the like, with significant pay cuts.
