and their total lack of understanding the need for child care.

Richard Nixon vetoed or in some way made impossible (I honestly am forgetting the specifics and I don't feel like searching for them right now) government paid childcare for working mothers. He apparently thought that without that, the moms would stay home. As if that would magically do away with their need for childcare when they worked.

Women have always struggled. Couples have always struggled. Providing care for your children is difficult if you're not in a position to either hire full time help or to allow one partner to stay home full time. We absolutely need to understand that good childcare is fundamental to having strong families.

Military families are only a special case. All families need this.
