President Donald Trump is expected to head to Florida next weekend to address the Republican Party's top donors, according to several people familiar with the plans.

The party's biggest donors are gathering in Palm Beach for a retreat organized by the Republican National Committee, and the president has been announced as the featured speaker, according to people with knowledge of the plans. A number of senior administration officials will also attend the retreat, the people familiar with the planning said, a key draw for the donors.

The speech will be one of Trump's first moves as president to build the party, which had a sometimes uneasy relationship with him during his candidacy but mostly has coalesced around him as president. Many of the partys wealthiest donors shunned Trump during his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination.

And Trump railed against the role of large donors in the political process, saying they buy influence with politicians. "When you give, they do whatever the hell you want them to do," he said, explaining why he frequently gave to Democratic politicians before running for president.

Politico asked the WH and RNC to comment on the report, hasn't received any response yet.

Another weekend, another few million dollars of taxpayer money wasted so Cheeto Jesus can enjoy golf and pay-to-play politics in Florida.

Editing to add a clarification, after posting some replies below.

Apparently Politico meant the first weekend in March when they wrote "next weekend." This coming weekend, according to a Palm Beach Post article, Trump is expected to stay in DC and prepare to address a joint session of Congress on the 28th.
