Feb 2017

Best Actor Nominee - Benedict Cumberbatch for playing a closeted gay man in The Imitation Game, a true story.

Oscar nominee - Eddie Redmayne, The Danish Girl (trans)

The actor in The Crying Game

Ian McKellan, Gods and Monsters

Transamerica (trans)

Judi Dench, Notes on a Scandal

Victor, Victoria - Robert Preston

Dallas Buyers Club - Jared Leto (great movie) (trans)

Brokeback Mountain

Kiss of the Spider Woman - William Hurt (Best Actor)

Tom Hanks, Philadelphia Story (Best Actor)

Boys Don't Cry - Hilary Swank (Best Actress)

Monster - Charlize Theron (Best Actress)

Sean Penn, Milk (Best Actor)

And others.

No way Hollywood discriminates against gays or trans people. Gays/trans people are a minority in our society, but they are certainly well represented and awarded in Hollywood.
