because a lot of regular people are going to get shafted by any Republican plan. Keep costs low then you don't have coverage regulations and they will refuse payment for care. Keep taxes low and you don't have money for community health clinics or emergency rooms.

A good portion of people will be unhappy no matter what, but the ACA does seem to be the biggest compromise we could expect to get that helps the most stakeholders. The liberal plan would be Medicare for all. The conservative plan is die quickly unless you have money.
