... I sat in the stands and looked at the millions and millions of
dollars that was being spent on what could best be described as
wretched excess and at that point in light of the scandals at both
Ohio State and the one at Penn State I thought why in the name of
God is this game being played?

Athletic departments at major universities have become their own
worlds and something needs to be done about them.

BTW i grew up as a big time college football fan but now I see them and
corporate interests around the sport along with college basketball as being
antithetical to the mission of a university.

I doubt that the NCAA will give PSU the death penalty because in the end
it is always about the dollars.
