After Trump scolding, McConnell insists ObamaCare repeal will move forward [View all]

Source: The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) insisted the Senate will take a procedural vote to move to ObamaCare repeal next week following a White House meeting between President Trump and the Senate GOP conference.

“Next week we’ll be voting on the motion to proceed, and I have every expectation that we’ll be able to get on the bill," McConnell told reporters at the White House after a GOP senators' luncheon with President Trump.

McConnell voiced confidence despite opposition from several centrist Republicans. The GOP leader needs 51 votes to win a motion to proceed to the repeal bill, but four Republicans have said they will oppose it.

McConnell is arguing that the vote will allow the Senate to debate ObamaCare on the floor. He said Wednesday that senators will be able to offer amendments, effectively legislating on the floor.
