In reply to the discussion: President Trump has exchanged private messages with Russia special counsel Robert Mueller [View all]skip fox
(19,502 posts)23. Exchange? "Sent them back and forth"
implies an exchange, but the syntax "Trump has sent them back and forth" implies only one sender.
Why are they implying a cordial exchange? Do they think this will dissuade Mueller? No. These are smart lawyers.
Are they trying to imply that Mueller has friendly feelings for Trump so they can can portray him as a lying, back-stabbing hypocrite when he finds what he eventually will? Does Trump think that would help anger the base, re-energize their flagging polls, and frighten the Republican Congress and Senate from impeaching Trump despite Mueller's report?
A Hail Mary, perhaps?

One person cannot send messages "back and forth" they're trying to rope in Mueller

This is how he gets caught in his own BS -- Mueller is not responding to him, but has no doubt

"Exchange" would mean that Mueller sent some back, which is highly doubtful

I'm guessing they hope people think that but mean Trump sent his lawyer messages who passed them

I so want to believe that would be Mueller response (if they responded at all).
