and what I remember most about the '60's was the civil Rights movement and, no, if the white people in my area we're upset about it, they didn't make much noise in that direction...It might have helped that my parents were NOT haters of any kind and didn't like other people who were. I started the seventies as a 20 year old in San Francisco which was a kind of counter cultural mecca at the time, so that racist shit wasn't flying there.

When I returned to the East Coast, my parents had become even more liberal and I hung with musicians and the same kind of educated, hip people I did on the West Coast.
