13. I know public school teachers are leaving in droves

Texas teacher pay isn't great, but it's better than OK. A teacher in the Houston ISD with 10 years experience make $55,600. In Tulsa they make $37,200. In fact, a Tulsa teacher maxes out at $49,130 after 29 years. That's $3K less than a brand new teacher makes in HISD. Housing in Tulsa is cheaper, but not enough to make up the difference.
