36. The police gave the reporter the information they wanted him to have & he included it in his story.

It is not inaccurate information. It is vague. If the reporter had just made up out of whole cloth how the man died, and it was learned later that he died in a different manner, *that* would be inaccurate. The police decided to withhold the information, for whatever their reason was. I can't imagine that the reporter would not have asked.
