Last year TCM aired several films from various directors (I think George Stevens was one of them) that were documentation of what was happening throughout the 3rd Reich. There were British and American films. A lot of great directors, such as Fritz Lang, left Germany when they realized what was happening. I was living in France in 2005 and there were anniversaries celebrating the liberation of a lot of cities throughout Europe. The German citizens living by the camps claimed ignorance yet the smell and ashes falling from clear blue skies for years proved them to be compliant with the Germans and the use of crematoriums/gas chambers.
