(6,960 posts)The deficits, debt, quantitive easing, bailouts, loans, stimulus,etc. have devalued the U.S. dollar vis-a-vis the Canadian dollar (for example).
Inflation is taking its toll.
The way to reinvigorate the U.S. economy is not to print even more dollars ... what we really need to do is re-prioritize.
There is plenty of money, but a trillion dollars a year is going into the rathole of homeland/national security, that money needs to be used to cut the debt and rebuild infrastructure. Hundreds of billions of dollars are going to corporate welfare and tax breaks/cuts for the super rich, that money needs to go to shore-up our 'safety net' programs.
We don't need more debt.
But, of course, you and I both know that rearranging our national priorities to the benefit of working people isn't going to happen.
