In reply to the discussion: Dems warn GOP: We're prepared for class war [View all]Saviolo
(3,321 posts)It's win-win, honestly. Bernie did lots of good work raising money from the people. Democrats could do that if they took an aggressively anti-1% stance. Eschew the huge money donors and build from the grass roots up. Most of the big corporations will shy away and keep their money out of the ring publicly, and all the dark money will still go to Republicans, but then the Democrats will be able to say they're not beholden to big money interests.
Make the message, then stay on the message. Healthcare for all, education for all, cleaner water in poor communities, infrastructure to help struggling urban communities, outreach to women, POC, LGBTQ+, the Democratic base. Inclusiveness and progress. Have young leaders mentored by our elder statesmen and women and encourage engagement in oft-overlooked communities. Go door to door. These are all class issues. The 1% holds more wealth than the bottom 60%, but guess who has more votes?
