WH: Trump treats women with 'highest level of respect' [View all]

Source: The Hill

BY JONATHAN EASLEY - 12/07/17 02:25 PM EST

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Thursday defended President Trump’s treatment of women after scandal-plagued Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) took a parting shot at the president in his resignation speech.

“I think that the president treats, certainly as a woman myself, I’ve never felt treated with anything but the highest level of respect and been empowered to do my job and that’s what I’ve seen the president do day in and day out since I’ve been here and during the campaign,” Sanders said told reporters at a press briefing.

The press secretary added that White House staff has been reminded of policies that are in place to ensure everyone is treated respectfully.

“There’s certainly White House policies we are reminded of and all of us expect each of us to respect those policies and to not cross a line that is not only not legal but not appropriate and not ethical,” she said.

White House downplays Trump's meeting with John Bolton

BY JORDAN FABIAN - 12/07/17 02:05 PM EST

The White House on Thursday downplayed speculation that President Trump could be eyeing former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton for a position in his administration.

Bolton is scheduled to meet with Trump later Thursday, days after news reports surfaced the White House has a plan to force out Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Bolton is simply “a friend of the president” and described the meeting as “nothing more than a check in and a friendly visit.”

News reports last week indicated that the White House is looking to replace Tillerson, with whom Trump has frequently clashed, with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

Bolton was considered for several high-ranking posts during the presidential transition but ultimately did not take a job.

White House: Trump to have physical exam early next year

BY JORDAN FABIAN - 12/07/17 02:11 PM EST

President Trump will have a physical exam early next year at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the results will be released to the public, the White House announced Thursday.

The announcement came one day after Trump slurred his speech during remarks about Israel, sparking speculation about his health.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders denied it was the result of a medical problem. “The president’s throat was dry, nothing more than that,” she told reporters.

Sanders called the questions about Trump's health "frankly, pretty ridiculous."
