Family Of Keaton Jones Faces Backlash After Mother's Views Of Black Protestors Comes To Light [View all]

Source: Vibe.com

Over the weekend, a video of Tennessee native Keaton Jones went viral after he tearfully recalled moments of bullying at his school. The Facebook video, posted by his mother Kimberly Jones, went viral almost instantly as it amassed over 22 million views. A number of celebrities of color like Snoop Dogg, Rihanna and T.I. provided support to the child, but others are now calling out his mother for her political views.

On Monday (Dec. 11), posts from Jones came to light about her views on black protestors and a few photos showing her deep connection to the confederate flag. She also reportedly condemned the actions of Colin Kaepernick, who silently protested against police brutality by taking a knee during the National Anthem last year. In a post from August, Jones added to the continuing conversation about discipline towards children in the states.

Public insight has also swayed onto the topic of the power of black compassion and karma.

Her son Keaton, who has his own social media page, uploaded an apology on behalf of his mother on Monday. “I love my mother but I also realize wrong is wrong,” he said. “I hope we can all put her mistakes in the past and focus on bettering the world.”
