(23,272 posts)Catholicism isn't the problem but the culture that enabled it certain is. Attacking that culture is definitely fair game.
Are there good priests who are getting tarred? Definitely. Does that mean the culture isn't corrupted all the way to the very top? I think its absolutely fair to be outraged at the entire structure which enabled and facilitated it. In fact, I think if you AREN'T outraged at the Vatican and the priesthood in general then something's really wrong.
Penn State worships football at the expense of those boys for sure but fans are so blinded, they're outraged at anyone even examining how this state of affairs came to be, or even if its healthy. Like the Vatican only wants us to look at their pedo priests, Penn State desperately want us to only look at Sandusky, nothing else. Football has permeated the culture at Penn State to such a degree, and has corrupted it all the way to the top.
Sorry, but at this stage of the game, with a possible donor pedo ring and the Arrow foundation's close ties to the Bush family and THEIR past pedo ring history - I don't think anything's off limits in being questioned.
