because my great-aunt had a stroke and moved in with us. By the time I was 8, I got to stay home after school, weekends and breaks in case she fell, so I could call someone.
Two of my sibs had major medical issues, and my family owned and operated a grocery store. Before Medicare, before Medicaid.
